Papier mache
Octopus Pinata
These are great fun to make and can be made quite easily if you know how. Filled with lollies and broken open at birthday parties, piñatas, are a real treat and can be used at any family celebration.
What you need
Balloon
Newspaper
Wall paper glue or flour paper paste (see recipes) placed into an empty ice-cream container
Powder paint mixed into small containers
Paint brushes
Long strips of coloured crepe and cellophane paper
Scotch masking tape
Lollies
Scissors
1. Blow up balloon and tie a double knot in the end
2. Tear newspaper into strips. Place a strip into the paste, so it is completely coated and then wrap it around the balloon. Carry on doing this until the balloon has about three layers of paper wrapped around it. Let it dry completely – this may take up to three days.
