Mural painting
If you have a whole lot of small children with not much to do and it's a lovely sunny day out, get them to paint a mural. I get a roll of heavyweight paper like butchers' paper and using masking tape, tape the paper up in a long length against a fence or a brick wall.
All children are then slathered in sunscreen, a hat and old clothes (big baggy t-shirts that my husband no longer uses) I provide each child with brushes and a container of different coloured paint (which they have to share with everyone else). We decide on a theme - seaside, circus, farm etc and then they get painting. There is as much paint on each other as there is on the mural but they love it.
