The Perfect Technique

The Boxed Gift

A rule of thumb is use a box where possible. Boxes are much easier to wrap than other shapes and look better. Plain white boxes in various sizes are available from a number of manufacturers (create link to useful links).

Step 1: Get two sheets of tissue paper (in colours co-ordinated with the outer wrapping). Pleat them to fit the size of the box, centre one sheet facing one direction, and the second in the other. Put the sheets into the box, leaving the edges hanging over the box.
Step 2: Put the gift in the box and fold the tissue paper in over the gift.
Step 3: Measure the paper as shown with the short sides being about ¾ the depth of the box.
Step 4: Place the box in the centre and fold the paper half way round – tape
Step 5: Fold under the other raw edge about 2cm and affix double-side tape to the folded edge. Pull tight and fix.
Step 6: Fold the corners as shown and fix with double-sided tape, pulling paper tight against the box. Tape with Scotch Gift-wrap Tape or double-sided tape. Repeat on the other side.
